THE FORBIDDEN ARCHAEOLOGY OF MICHAEL CREMO

Michael Cremo and Richard Thompson’s Forbidden Archeology proves that humanity is much older than we are taught. Unearthing and analyzing clues in Vedic literature, they have shown that our civilizations have risen and fallen in ways most people today would be stunned by. According to the collected anomalous archaeological evidence presented in their book, the world as we know it today is at least 2 billion years old, and the history of Homo sapiens is far older than the 1–6 million years of ape-like hominids commonly taught. Cremo and Thompson have upset the time line for our presence on Earth in our current genetic and physiological forms by cataloging hundreds of finds, such as the 2.3 billion-yearold round, metallic, grooved spheres from South Africa, which suggest that metallurgy was practiced on Earth long before this cycle’s Iron Age (1200–550 BCE).

Trying to put our extensive life cycles on Earth in perspective, Cremo states: “According to the Puranas [Vedic histories], there have been innumerable creations in the course of cyclical time. The basic unit of Vedic cyclical time is the day of Brahma, which lasts 4.32 billion years. The day of Brahma [also called a kalpa] is followed by a night of Brahma, also lasting 4.32 billion years. The cycle of days and nights of Brahma goes on for Brahma’s lifetime of one hundred years [36,000 nights], equivalent to 311.04 trillion of our human years. During the day of Brahma, life [including human life] is manifest. During the night of Brahma, life is not manifest.”

Cremo described, in one of our several interviews, the project of gathering this information that rewrites history. “When I started I thought it would take me about eight weeks, but when I got into it I found that the eight weeks turned into eight months and the eight months turned into eight years. There is such a huge volume of information that has been subject to this knowledge-filtering process. It involved getting all kinds of scientific publications that have been put out for one hundred and fifty years. And knowledge filtering has been going on that long, ever since Darwin wrote his Origin of the Species.”

Cremo continued telling us about his own amazing odyssey. “When I started traveling and going to different parts of the world, I became very interested in the ancient Sanskrit writings. That’s what really got me started thinking that things might be a little bit different than we are told. You can go to India, Egypt, or China or South America to the Aztecs, Mayan, and Incan places,” he continued, sounding like a travel guide, “and you find the local people will tell you that some temple has been here for millions of years. And if you look into their writing you find actual histories that go back vast stretches of time. For instance, the Babylonian kings list goes back over four hundred thousand years.
